The number and style of teams Academy fields in each age group is dependent on the number of children registered each year. In the past Academy has supported both 'competitive' and 'non-competitive' teams in various age groups. A competitive team competes in the CACTI competitions, before a theatre audience and receives team points towards the Championships trophy against other participating teams in the region. A non-competitive team learn the same or similar routines, but do not compete on stage.
Participants are divided into teams based on their age on the 31 December in the year of competition.
Children belong in a "Tinies" team when their age is 3, 4, 5 or 6 on the 31 December in the year of competition. In 2010, Academy is running a Tinies competitive team, and a Teenies non-competitive team.
Children belong in the Sub Juniors age division if they are 7, 8 or 9 on the 31 December in the year of competition. In 2010, Academy is fielding 1 competitive Subbies team.
Children belong in the Juniors age division if they are 10, 11 or 12 on the 31 December in the year of competition. In 2010, Academy has lots of Junior-aged children so for some items they will field 2 teams in the competitions.
Intermediates are participants who are 13, 14 or 15 years old on the 31 December in the year of competition. In 2010, Adacdemy is fielding 1 competitive Intermediate team.
Seniors are participants who are 16 years old or older on the 31 December in the year of competition. Academy will not be fielding a Seniors team in 2010.
